Quincy Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center announce clinical affiliation Medical Centers to collaborate on patient care initiatives QUINCY (June 30) Quincy Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center are pleased to announce a clinical affiliation that will support and expand Quincy Medical Center’s ability to offer high-quality clinical services to local patients, and will enhance area residents’ access to advanced, tertiary-level care. “Our clinical affiliation with Tufts Medical Center is designed to bring services to the community that complement the excellent care provided by our community physician partners,” said John N. Kastanis, Interim CEO of Quincy Medical Center. “Our affiliation is a key step forward in implementing our plans to achieve long term financial stability for Quincy Medical Center.” “Tufts Medical Center is pleased that our physicians will be working closely with their community-based colleagues in Quincy to ensure that patients in Quincy Medical Center’s area have access to the best possible care,” said Ellen Zane, President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center. “Our model of care reinforces our strong belief that patients should receive the appropriate care in the appropriate location, and our clinical affiliation is designed to enable more care to be delivered in the Quincy community.” The two hospitals also announced today that the first clinical programs to be expanded at Quincy Medical Center as a result of the affiliation are breast cancer surgery and thoracic surgery. Other programs in development include enhanced cardiology services and geriatric services offered at Quincy Medical Center as well as outreach to the Asian communities both hospitals serve. “The QMC medical staff has been very involved in developing this affiliation,” said QMC Medical Staff President Thomas Fitzgerald, MD. “These new services bring a more comprehensive capacity to the community that our physicians have been asking for and the medical staff is excited to welcome our new colleagues to Quincy.” “The QMC Board of Trustees is committed to the success of Quincy Medical Center and this affiliation with Tufts Medical Center is a great positive step forward,” said Grace Murphy-McAuliffe, Chair of the Board. “I want to thank my colleagues on the Board and the QMC staff for their continuing dedication to our community’s health.” An important goal of the affiliation is to enable more patients to get their care at Quincy Medical Center by expanding the hospital’s services and supporting existing programs. At the same time, when patients need tertiary-level care, Tufts Medical Center will be Quincy Medical Center’s preferred referral center. The Quincy Medical Center – Tufts Medical Center collaboration will ensure high quality patient care that is well coordinated, provided in the best clinical setting, and close to home. Quincy Medical Center is the primary preferred community hospital for patients who see primary care physicians from New England Quality Care Alliance’s Quincy Primary Care group including those at Manet Community Health Center.
